The Black American Political Association of California (BAPAC) invites you to this year's 37th Annual Statewide Hall of Fame Convention held Oct. 16-18, 2015 at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel located in San Diego, California. This event provides you with exclusive access to hundreds of BAPAC members, political leaders, advocates, policymakers, California elected officials, entrepreneurs, and more. Annually, influencers throughout the country gather once year during the BAPAC convention to address political and policy issues that affect underserved communities. We are expecting national dignitaries and other notable invitees.

For three days, hundreds of BAPAC California delegates will convene to network, workshop, and strategize in building a new vision for 2016: A nonpartisan vision that strategically advocates for the educational, economic, and cultural equity of our underserved California communities. This year's theme: "If you build it, they will come." We are celebrating, honoring the builders within communities in California and across the country.

Pivotal Year

As we approach the 2016 election year, it's important to build, discuss, and provide solutions to issues that matter to African-American and underserved communities in California and throughout the United States. During this convention, we've incorporated a youth summit, high-impact plenaries, voting toolkits, high-level keynotes, a gala, and more. We've invited and confirmed hundreds of policy makers, BAPAC delegates, elected officials, advocates, community leaders, entrepreneurs to convene during this pivotal time in history. As we build and acknowledge the work of statewide and national leaders during this convention, we also acknowledge the work of those who sacrificed their life during the most pivotal times in history.

"If you build it, they will come"

This year's theme, "If you build it, they will come," acknowledges those who have paved the way for monumental changes in African-American history (e.g., voting rights) and acknowledge those who are continuing to make a difference. During a time of protest and movement (#BlackLivesMatter) within African-American communities, dialogue and solutions are needed now more than ever. This convention will connect generations of leaders and provide useful toolkits attendees can use within their communities. If you live in California and are currently looking for resources to bring back to your community, this is a convention you don't want to miss.
