Pivotal Year
As we approach the 2016 election year, it's important to build, discuss, and provide solutions to issues that matter to African-American and underserved communities in California and throughout the United States. During this convention, we've incorporated a youth summit, high-impact plenaries, voting toolkits, high-level keynotes, a gala, and more. We've invited and confirmed hundreds of policy makers, BAPAC delegates, elected officials, advocates, community leaders, entrepreneurs to convene during this pivotal time in history. As we build and acknowledge the work of statewide and national leaders during this convention, we also acknowledge the work of those who sacrificed their life during the most pivotal times in history.
"If you build it, they will come"
This year's theme, "If you build it, they will come," acknowledges those who have paved the way for monumental changes in African-American history (e.g., voting rights) and acknowledge those who are continuing to make a difference. During a time of protest and movement (#BlackLivesMatter) within African-American communities, dialogue and solutions are needed now more than ever. This convention will connect generations of leaders and provide useful toolkits attendees can use within their communities. If you live in California and are currently looking for resources to bring back to your community, this is a convention you don't want to miss.
